I run FreeBSD 9.0 STABLE with Xorg 7.5.2. Mouse works just fine in the text mode, but when I start X11 the mouse cursor stops moving. This happens not every time I run startx, but it's pretty annoying since the problem arises without any warning and the mouse simply stops functioning.
Any ideas who to resolve this?
If you're using moused (moused_enable=”YES” in /etc/rc.conf) then your Xorg configuration probably conflicts with the mouse daemon.
Did you check error logs in /var/logs/xorg.logs?
If you're seeing a conflict error somewhere in the log file or upon X-Window exit then disable the moused daemon because it's causing the conflict.
Before disabling moused permanently try the service moused stop command. If it works for you disable it permanently by typing moused_enable=”NO” in /etc/rc.conf
