What Protection Components Does KIS Contain?
Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 contains the following protection components:
- Anti-Virus scans files stored on a PC's disk, all connected removable media and external drives. If an infected file is found, it's moved to the quarantine or permanently deleted.
The anti-virus component also protects your computer from viruses contained in a Web site or files you download from the Internet. - E-Mail Scanning checks any incoming and outgoing e-mail for viruses, spyware and other threats. Scam emails and phishing is also detected.
- Instant Messaging scanning secures your IM mailbox. Anytime you receive a file or link via your favorite instant messaging program, Kaspersky will scan them and block any threat-posing content.
- Firewall blocks malicious traffic and stops hackers from breaking into your system. Firewall can also undermine spyware's attempts to rely locally stored data to a remote party.
- Application Control component logs actions taken by any application on your system to establish whether a program is malicious or safe.
- Network Attack Blocker facility sniffs out traces of any malicious activity that looks like a remote attack and blocks local ports intruders could use to compromise your system's security.
- Anti-Spam feature filters out unwanted email correspondence saving you time deleting spam from your mailbox.
- Anti-Phishing blocks phishing mail and phishing Websites designed to steal logins and passwords.
- Anti Adware blocks pop-up windows and ad banners displayed by various applications.
- Parental Control Tools allows you to deny your children access to inappropriate Web content.
