How to make a teleport effect in Sony Vegas

We've been asked this question a lot recently - how to make a teleport effect in Sony Vegas, the easy way.
Don't worry, teleporting your cat or spouse has never been easier. All you need to do is to do two identical shots of the same location, preferably under identical lighting circumstances and using a camera tripod for the stable shot.
The first shot shouldn't include anything but your "background" that your subject (e.g. cat) will be dissolving into.
The second shot should include your (moving) subject, but make sure you've made no camera movement nor lightning adjustment, so that the "background" looks exactly the same as in the first shot.
With these two shots recorded, head over to your Sony Vegas or Sony Vegas Movie Studio project, put both of them on the timeline and let them crossfade smoothly, so that the shot with your subject comes first and dissolves into the shot without the subject.
This simple trick will do the teleport effect for you. Have fun!
